Lynnwood K9 Cannon tracks down suspect linked to stolen vehicle

LYNNWOOD—A Lynnwood police officer’s vigilance and the tracking skills of his K9, Cannon, led to the swift apprehension on Thursday, June 19, of a suspect linked to a stolen vehicle and firearm.

At 1:56 a.m., Thursday morning, a Lynnwood police officer observed a suspicious GMC Yukon and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and due to safety concerns, officers did not pursue.

The Yukon was later found abandoned nearby, with a records check confirming it was stolen. A firearm was visible between the driver’s seat and center console.

K9 Cannon was deployed and tracked the suspect through a dense wooded area, locating them within just 14 minutes.

The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and attempting to elude police. Additional charges are pending the results from a search warrant for the vehicle.
