LYNNWOOD—A Lynnwood police officer’s vigilance and the tracking skills of his K9, Cannon, led to the swift apprehension on Thursday, June 19, of a suspect linked to a stolen vehicle and firearm.
At 1:56 a.m., Thursday morning, a Lynnwood police officer observed a suspicious GMC Yukon and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and due to safety concerns, officers did not pursue.
The Yukon was later found abandoned nearby, with a records check confirming it was stolen. A firearm was visible between the driver’s seat and center console.
K9 Cannon was deployed and tracked the suspect through a dense wooded area, locating them within just 14 minutes.
The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and attempting to elude police. Additional charges are pending the results from a search warrant for the vehicle.
