SEDRO-WOOLLEY—Edgar Alejandro Fuentes, Jr, 22, is currently in custody related to a shooting at Memorial Park in Sedro-Woolley, that has killed one and injured five. Police recovered two firearms and are investigating with no current public threat.
On July 5, 2025, at approximately 11:19 p.m., Sedro-Woolley Police Officers responded to reports of a weapons offense at Memorial Park, following multiple 911 calls of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers secured the area and found several injured individuals. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and the Sedro-Woolley Fire Department, one person has died. Authorities are working to notify the next of kin.
Five other victims sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The suspect, Edgar Alejandro Fuentes, Jr, 22, is in custody and has been booked into the Skagit County Jail. Police have recovered two firearms among a significant amount of evidence collected at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, with officers and detectives expected to remain at the park for several hours to process evidence. Authorities state there is no current threat to the public.
The Sedro-Woolley Police Department is seeking photos or videos related to the incident and asks anyone with information to contact them at 360-428-3211.
The response effort involved support from multiple agencies, including the Burlington Police Department, Mount Vernon Police Department, Upper Skagit Tribal Police Department, Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, Anacortes Police Department, Bellingham Police Department, and Washington State Patrol.
