EVERETT—Firefighters rescued one man and found another man dead while responding to a house fire in south Everett the evening of Sunday, September 14.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home in the 11800 block of 8th Ave W. just after 7 p.m. and found heavy fire conditions on the back side of the home. Witnesses indicated four people lived at the home and two people were believed to still be inside. Firefighters quickly applied water to the fire and began conducting searches. Inside a bedroom on the second floor, firefighters found a man in his 80s and rushed him to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters faced challenges while searching the first floor of the home due to the large amount of furniture and contents. During operations on that floor, firefighters found the body of another man, approximately in his 40s.
During the response, firefighters heard small explosions suspected to be from ammunition and observed possible drug paraphernalia. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Damage is preliminarily estimated at $375,000.
Support 7 and American Red Cross volunteers responded to assist residents displaced by the fire. More than 30 firefighters responded to this incident, including personnel from Everett Fire Department and Paine Field Fire Department.
