Where to observe Memorial Day this year in Snohomish County

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. This year’s Memorial Day 2026 will occur on Monday, May 25.

Below is a list of ceremonies held throughout Snohomish County this year.

It should also be noted that government offices will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

Arlington

The American Legion/Arlington Post #76 sponsors the “Avenue of Flags” annually to honor Veterans. Flags are donated, set up and taken down by volunteers. Each flagpole has a small plaque displaying the Veteran’s name.

The avenue is located at the Cemetery at intersection of 67th Avenue and 204th Street.

Edmonds

The public is invited to attend the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery’s Memorial Day Observance Program on Monday, May 25, at 11 a.m.

This year’s speaker is Douglas Sheehan, CDR, USCGR (ret.) Nephew of Medal of Honor recipient Signalman First Class Douglas A. Munro, USCG.

The Edmonds Memorial Cemetery was placed on the Washington State Register of Historic Places in 1972 and has 625 veterans interred.  In honor of Memorial Day graves of all veterans will be marked with a white cross and a miniature US. Edmonds Memorial Cemetery is located at 820 15th Street Southwest in Edmonds.

Everett

There will also be a big Memorial Day celebration at Evergreen Cemetery and Memorial in Everett (4504 Broadway) complete with live music, activities (cookie decorating), and food. Local high school students also have an opportunity to volunteer at the cemetery on Memorial Day for extra credit. The event takes place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Lake Stevens

Lake Stevens American Legion Post 181 will host a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 25, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at the Lake Stevens War Veterans Memorial in North Cove Park. The service honors local service members who made the ultimate sacrifice, often featuring a solemn, community-focused program

Lynnwood

Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park (44th Avenue West and Veteran’s Way). Join the City of Lynnwood for an in-person Memorial Day ceremony as the community remembers those who have died in service to our country. Lynnwood American Legion Post 37 and Lynnwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 sponsor a ceremony that includes music, laying of a wreath, and a rifle salute. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.

Marysville

For Memorial Day 2026, the American Legion Post 178 will host a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Marysville Cemetery (8801 State Ave, Marysville, WA) to honor fallen service members. The ceremony often includes an open house with refreshments to follow. Mayor John Nehring is scheduled to speak.

Beginning on May 22 (until Monday the 25), the American Legion Post 178 will also be raising/lowering 250 flags daily at the ceremony, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Mill Creek

Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony at Veterans Monument in Mill Creek. Mill Creek’s Memorial Day Ceremony helps ensure that the sacrifices made by fallen veterans on behalf of our nation and its values will not be forgotten.

The ceremony will include remarks from Mill Creek Mayor Brian Holtzclaw, Senator John Lovick, Congresswoman Susan DelBene, Veteran Kittie LaFazia—Commander of American Legion Post 127 and Director of the Heroes’ Cafe in Woodinville—and Chaplain Nick Lewis of the Mill Creek Police Department.

Additionally, the event will feature presentations by the Mill Creek Chorale and the Mill Creek Police Department Color Guard, which will include the raising of the colors accompanied by Bugler George Moffat.

Veterans Monument is located at Library Park, 15429 Bothell Everett Highway. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m.

Mukilteo

The Mukilteo Historical Society is hosting its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the historic Pioneer Cemetery (513 Webster St) on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The ceremony honors veterans and Mukilteo founders, featuring a wreath-laying and flag presentation, and is open to the public.

Snohomish County

A Memorial Day proclamation is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Snohomish County Council Chambers to honor U.S. military personnel who died in service.
