“The Civil Service Commission plays a vital role in ensuring fairness, integrity, and professionalism in the hiring and personnel processes for Mukilteo’s Police and Fire departments,” said Mayor Joe Marine. “We encourage community members who are committed to public service and transparent governance to apply for these important positions.”

Applications are available on the City of Mukilteo’s website. To be eligible, the applicant must be a resident of Mukilteo and a U.S. citizen for at least one year prior to appointment.

The Civil Service Commission consists of three members who are appointed by the Mayor for six-year terms. The Commission is responsible for adopting civil service rules that govern personnel administration for the City of Mukilteo’s uniformed services, including the Police and Fire departments. The Commission also oversees recruitment and hiring processes, including competitive testing programs designed to evaluate the qualifications of applicants seeking employment in these services.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 4 p.m., at City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way in Mukilteo. Commission members can join in-person, online, or by phone.

In addition, applications for other Commissions and Committees are expected to open in the coming months. Residents are encouraged to apply and get involved in shaping the future of the community.
