Marysville announces America 250 celebrations 

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville City Council recently adopted a proclamation recognizing America’s 250th anniversary, also known as America 250 or the nation’s semiquincentennial. The city plans to commemorate the historic milestone through a wide range of community events and celebrations.

In addition to special enhancements such as patriotic flower baskets throughout the city and American flag banners along State Avenue, the city will host the following programs: 

June  

  • June 1–14: Red, White and ClueAmerica 250 Scavenger Hunt 
  • A free, self-guided historical scavenger hunt featuring stops at key local landmarks 
  • June 4: America 250 Trivia Night at 5 Rights Brewing, hosted by the Marysville Historical Society (6:30 p.m.)
  • June 6: Poochella Patriotic Dog Parade at Asbery Field (11 a.m.)
  • June 14: Flag Day Celebration 
  • Voices of Liberty celebration at the Marysville Opera House (1–4 p.m.) 
  • Flag retirement ceremony at Jennings Memorial Park Pavilion (1 p.m.), in partnership with American Legion Post 178  
  • 250 Years of Freedom flag display at Comeford Park

July 

  • July 4: Fourth of July Celebration at Ebey Waterfront Park (6–10 p.m.) 
  • Live music, expanded fireworks show, food vendors, red, white and blue wrestling performances, and other family-friendly activities 
  • July 4: Patriotic Paddle Battle pickleball tournament at Jennings Park 
  • July 18: Let Freedom Swing Youth Home Run Derby  
  • July 29: Senior American History Trivia

September 

  • Sept. 12: 250-themed cemetery tour honoring veterans, hosted by the Marysville Historical Society 
  • Sept. 17: Civic Engagement Day 
  • Sept. 26: Community Tea at the Historical Society Museum 

October 

  • October 2: Vintage speakeasy jazz concert featuring Pearl Django at the Marysville Opera House
