Community partners to host Meadowdale Beach Cleanup on July 9

EDMONDS — Following a highly successful beach cleanup last summer that drew more than 70 participants and removed over 151 pounds of trash, Snohomish County Councilmember Nate Nehring is teaming up with WSU Beach Watchers, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County, and the Greater Seattle Korean Association to host a community beach cleanup at Meadowdale Beach Park on Wednesday, July 9, 2026. The free event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is open to all community volunteers. Supplies and refreshments will be provided.

“This cleanup gives residents a hands-on way to care for one of our most treasured local shorelines,” organizers said in announcing the partnership. The effort focuses on removing debris, protecting wildlife habitat, and encouraging long-term environmental responsibility along the Puget Sound shoreline.

Organizers described last year’s similar youth-focused cleanup at Kayak Point Park as a meaningful opportunity to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards for Puget Sound.

“This beach cleanup is part of our stewardship efforts, and we’re super excited to partner… Inspiring the next generation to be stewards of their environment and giving them a sense of what helping looks like is huge,” said Jonathan Robinson, WSU Beach Watchers Program Coordinator, after last year’s event.

This year’s cleanup at Meadowdale Beach Park expands on that momentum with even broader community partnerships. The event remains open to volunteers of all ages and is especially welcoming to families thanks to the involvement of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County.

With last year’s strong turnout, organizers are hopeful for another great day of community action at Meadowdale Beach. Come join neighbors, youth groups, and local organizations to help protect this beautiful shoreline.
