SNOHOMISH — An open-flame weed burning operation too close to a house ignited vinyl siding and spread into the attic, causing a fire Sunday evening that led to extensive damaged to the home, according to Snohomish County Fire District 4.
The fire at 6114 65th Ave. SE was reported at 5:35 p.m. on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026. Snohomish County Fire District 4 responded with mutual aid from Everett Fire and Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue (SRFR). Battalion Chief Brian Zehe served as incident commander.
Crews arrived to find the house filled with smoke and an active fire in the attic. Firefighters advanced hose lines into the interior and ventilated the roof. The homeowner had already exited the house with neighbors and was evaluated by emergency medical services; no injuries were found.
The fire was brought under control at 6:08 p.m. Crews also located valuables for the homeowner. It appeared the burning weeds had started the vinyl siding on fire, allowing flames to spread upward into the attic space.
No firefighters or civilians were injured or killed.
The scene was turned over to the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office for further investigation.
