Mukilteo Lane Scheduled to Reopen June 26 with One-Way Traffic Pattern

MUKILTEO — Mukilteo Lane is tentatively scheduled to reopen to traffic on Friday, June 26, at approximately 10 a.m., following nearly two years of closure due to major construction on the Edgewater Bridge.

When the roadway reopens, the section of Mukilteo Lane between W. Mukilteo Boulevard and the Mt. Baker Avenue crossing will operate as one-way, uphill-only traffic. The temporary traffic configuration is intended to reduce stress on the unstable outer edge of the roadway while the Cities of Mukilteo and Everett continue working toward a long-term stabilization solution for the corridor.

City officials say the one-way traffic pattern will help maintain safe access while engineering and planning efforts continue.

In preparation for the reopening, crews from the city of Mukilteo are completing the signage, pavement markings, and traffic-control improvements needed to implement the new traffic pattern. Residents may notice construction activity along Mukilteo Lane throughout the week leading up to the reopening.

Under the temporary configuration, drivers traveling through the affected section will be restricted to uphill travel only. Downhill travel through the one-way section will not be permitted. Access to homes and properties along Mukilteo Lane will remain available, and emergency vehicles will continue to have access in both directions when needed.

The reopening marks an important step in restoring connectivity for residents and travelers while local agencies continue working to address the corridor’s long-term stability.

The City of Mukilteo encourages drivers to follow posted signs and traffic-control devices once the roadway reopens and to allow extra travel time as motorists adjust to the new traffic pattern.
