ARLINGTON—Around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, north county deputies responded to a vehicle-versus-bicycle fatal collision in the 15200 block of 23rd Ave NE in Arlington. A vehicle traveling southbound on 23rd Ave NE struck the bicyclist in the middle of the roadway. The victim, a 52-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding fire personnel.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no other vehicles involved.
The road was closed for several hours while Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives were investigating. Detectives are still investigating the cause of the collision; however, speed, drugs, and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors.
Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
