SNOHOMISH COUNTY—A 38-year-old Lynnwood woman was killed early Thursday, July 30, when the motorcycle she was driving collided with a semi-truck on southbound State Route 99 in Snohomish County, the Washington State Patrol announced.

Karen J. Kim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 4:37 a.m. near milepost 51 at Lincoln Way, according to a WSP press memo. She was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmet.
Troopers said Kim’s white 2017 Kawasaki EX300 motorcycle merged onto southbound SR 99 from 31st Avenue West and struck the trailer of a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck that was traveling in the right lane. The motorcycle came to rest in that lane.
The truck’s driver, Puneet Singh, 43, of Everett, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and it was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
