EVERETT—South County firefighters battled a fire at a three-story apartment complex in Everett yesterday. No injuries were reported though at least five apartment units sustained damage.
Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, August 7, firefighters responded to reports of a fire at Parx at Everett Apartments located at 12102 4th Avenue West.
When they arrived, firefighters noticed light haze and singe marks on some of the siding around the outside of the building and quickly determined the source of the fire stemmed from the attic.
Firefighters began roof operations to ventilate the structure and attack the fire at its source. At the same time, firefighters performed searches to make sure no residents were still inside the apartment complex.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately ten minutes. After the fire was out, they remained active to monitor hotspots (areas that can reignite).
Residents from five apartment units were displaced. Three units sustained water damage, and two units sustained damage to the drywall. Support 7 and American Red Cross Northwest Region are helping affected residents with immediate needs.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
South County Fire extended appreciation to the Everett Fire Department, Mukilteo Fire Department, and Paine Field Firefighters Local 2597 for assisting with their response.
