Local mother and son to sign their latest books at Edmonds Bookshop

EDMONDSโ€”Whitney Popa and her son Oliver, both childrenโ€™s picture-book authors, will both be signing their newly published works at Edmonds Bookshop on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 pm.

Oliver Popa wrote his first childrenโ€™s book, Drippey Plants a Garden, when he was seven years old.ย  His second book, Am I a Planet?: A kids’ book about Pluto is due to be published on August 24, 2026. Both are illustrated by Elisabeth Sung. ย Am I a Planet is a humorous story about Plutoโ€™s demotion from planet status,ย a โ€œlaugh-out-loud journey about identity, friendship, and belonging,โ€ (bookโ€™s annotation.)

Whitney Popa is an author, editor, and founder of Our West Press.  Her latest publication is a picture book about a mother and daughter, Mama Lifts, that  โ€œencourages body positivity, healthy habits, and active lifestyles for families. Ideal for children of health-conscious moms, fitness-loving families, or anyone raising strong daughters who see strength as something to celebrate. A joyful read-aloud that reminds kids: the best thing mama lifts is always YOU!โ€ (publisherโ€™s website.)  Mama Lifts is illustrated by Silver Velvet.

Both books can be ordered from Edmonds Bookshop and will be available for purchase during this special family signing event.
