MUKILTEO — The City of Mukilteo Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) is now accepting applications for the 2027 Lodging Tax Grant.

The city is inviting local non-profits, government agencies, destination marketing organizations, and convention and visitors bureaus to apply for a 2027 Lodging Tax Grant. State law limits the use of lodging tax funds. All applications must be for one of the following uses:
- Tourism marketing
- Marketing and operations of special events and festivals
- Operations of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by non-profit organizations
- Operations and capital expenditures of tourism-related facilities owned by municipalities or public facilities districts only.
“The Lodging Tax Grant plays a vital role in bringing visitors to Mukilteo, encouraging overnight stays and supporting local businesses. By promoting tourism and generating economic activity, these grants help strengthen Mukilteo’s local economy and showcase our community as a destination,” said Mayor Joe Marine.
All applications must be clear, creative, realistic and include:
- Estimates of how funding the activity will result in increases in the number of people staying overnight, traveling 50 miles or more, or coming from another state or country
- How the project will generate economic benefits through overnight lodging, the sale of meals and goods, and/or construction of tourism-related facilities; increase recognition of Mukilteo as a tourism destination; and increase opportunities for tourism by developing new visitor activities.
The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Late applications will not be accepted. Applications must be submitted online at https://mukilteowa.gov/360/Lodging-Tax-Grant-Application.
LTAC will review applications and the available fund balance from lodging tax revenue. The committee will provide recommendations to the City Council on how to best use the funds. Please note that grant funding is limited, so not all projects submitted will receive funding.
