GOLD BAR—A man has died after crashing into a tree with his truck near Gold Bar Tuesday morning.
The crash took place in the 500 block of Croft Avenue West at around 12:40 a.m. The sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, was located by responding officers deceased at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours while detectives conducted their investigation, but it has now been reopened.
Snohomish County Sheriff deputies and Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives discovered in their investigation that the motorist’s Dodge truck left the roadway and struck the tree head on. Detectives have not determined whether the operator was under the influence or how fast he was going.
Though the speed limit of U.S. 2 is 50 miles per hour in some places, it drops to 35 miles per hour on the Croft Avenue West stretch as it passes through the City of Gold Bar.
CIU Detectives are continuing their investigation of the crash.
Positive identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
