MUKILTEO — The Mukilteo Community Parade will roll into town at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, with a theme celebrating the city’s small-town charm.
This year’s theme, “Community is the Heart of Mukilteo,” celebrates the people, history and stories that make Mukilteo unique.
The annual parade is part of the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival, a three-day, family-friendly community celebration held around Mukilteo Lighthouse Park. The parade will begin near Fifth Street and Loveland, travel down Lincoln Avenue, then turn east on Third Street.
“This beloved tradition brings our community together, celebrating the businesses, families and people who call Mukilteo home,” said Mayor Joe Marine. “We invite everyone to bring their lawn chair, gather with friends and neighbors, and enjoy a weekend filled with fun, connection and the community spirit that makes Mukilteo so special.”
Two public transportation options are available to make attending the parade easier.
Residents are encouraged to consider Community Transit for convenient northbound travel on the Speedway. Buses run approximately every 30 minutes, with stops near Beverly Park Road and SR 525 and near 92nd Street. Regular fares apply.
The festival also will run a shuttle from the festival parking lots located at Olympic View Middle School and Kamiak High School. The shuttle will run approximately every 10-15 minutes starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $3 per passenger. Both transit options will drop riders off at Red Cup Café.
The Mukilteo parade tradition dates to 1966, when the Mukilteo Historical Society organized the first festival and parade to celebrate local heritage and raise funds for a museum. Over the decades, it grew into the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival Grand Parade, featuring floats, marching bands and community organizations.
After organizers paused the parade, the city revived the tradition in 2025 with the newly envisioned Heart of Mukilteo Parade. This year marks its second year of the revived parade on the historic Waterfront District route, passing Rosehill Community Center and connecting a longtime tradition with a new generation.
The parade is free and open to the public.
