MARYSVILLE—The Marysville Police Department participated in Operation Clear Track today, conducting a focused rail‑safety emphasis aimed at reducing risky behaviors around railroad crossings and improving public awareness. During the one‑day detail, officers made 39 traffic stops, issuing 32 infractions, 7 warnings, and making 2 arrests for driving with a suspended license. The emphasis targeted violations such as stopping on the tracks, failing to obey crossing signals, and other behaviors that increase the risk of serious injury or fatal collisions.
Marysville has had four serious train-related incidents in September, including two fatalities. Each with different circumstances — from substance-use concerns to behavioral health crises to risky decisions by drivers and pedestrians. Together, they highlight a critical reminder: railroad tracks and crossings demand caution, awareness, and respect. These incidents affect far more than those directly involved. Families, witnesses, train crews, and our first responders all carry the weight of these traumatic events.
