MARYSVILLE — A Marysville police officer’s investigation linked a 32-year-old man to six theft cases after he was arrested in connection with the theft of a nearly $1,000 generator, according to the Marysville Police Department.

Corporal Burnett responded July 2 to a reported theft in progress at Harbor Freight, where employees reported a man loading a stolen generator into a waiting vehicle, police said.
Burnett located the vehicle about a block away, detained its occupants and recovered the generator. The passenger, identified as Jesse E. Fielding, admitted to the theft and was arrested, according to police.

During the investigation, Harbor Freight employees told officers they believed Fielding was responsible for several similar thefts in recent months. Burnett’s follow-up investigation helped confirm five additional cases through witness statements and surveillance video, police said.
Fielding was booked into the Marysville Jail and remained in custody for 19 days before being released. He later failed to appear for additional court proceedings and now has an active $25,000 warrant related to the case, according to the department.

Police are asking anyone with information about Fielding’s whereabouts to contact the Marysville Police Department.
Harbor Freight recently recognized Burnett’s response and investigative work by presenting him with a challenge coin, according to the department. Burnett was recently promoted to corporal.
