County passes resolution honoring the legacy of Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., April 13, 2022 – During its Administrative Session on Monday, the Snohomish County Council unanimously passed (5-0) Resolution 22-015 honoring the life and service of Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha.

The resolution, introduced by Councilman Sam Low (District 5) and seconded by Councilwoman Stephanie Wright (District 3) reads:

WHEREAS, Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha, Badge #1470, faithfully and dutifully served the people of the city of Everett; and

WHEREAS, during his time with the Everett Police Department, Officer Dan Rocha was a valued member and served the Everett community with bravery; and

WHEREAS, friends and community members knew Officer Dan Rocha as a committed husband and engaged father who loved his family dearly; and

WHEREAS, on the afternoon of Friday, March 25, 2022, Officer Dan Rocha was tragically killed in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Officer Dan Rocha was honored to wear the police badge and proud to be a police officer in Everett;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT, RESOLVED, that the Snohomish County Council and the Snohomish County Executive hereby recognize the life, service, and ultimate sacrifice paid by Everett Police Officer Dan Rocha. May his death be a reminder of his selfless heroism and service to the community.

Public Comments on the resolution for Dan Rocha

“I really hope this joint resolution will provide an important public acknowledgement of his loss and an historic marker to always remember this good man who served our community,” Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers.

“Officer Rocha was an amazing police officer who was very committed to his community and treated everyone he came in contact with, with dignity, respect and compassion, which is what is absolutely needed today,” Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman.

Councilmembers Dunn, Low, and Nehring shared they attended the memorial ceremony and provided supportive comments.
