Everything You Need to Know for the 2023 Evergreen State Fair

MONROE, Wash., August 3, 2023 – The Evergreen State Fair Park is excited to welcome the public back for the 2023 Evergreen State Fair, starting August 24! The fair is back this year with new and returning food and commercial vendors, carnival rides, animal barns, displays and exhibits, entertainment, beer gardens, and more.

This year’s theme: “Little Moments, Big Memories! Making Memories for 114 years” reflects how the fair is a place where the community comes together to share experiences. Do you remember your first fair? How about your first concert or rodeo? The crowds clapping and cheering, and all the excitement in the air. Or that first glimpse of a cow in the dairy barn. Or maybe it’s a special moment you shared with someone atop the Ferris wheel or over a heaping order of curly fries. All these little moments can bring back the sounds, smells, and feeling of happiness like it was yesterday.

Evergreen Fair

The Evergreen State Fair is proud to have been a part of making memories for 114 years. We have brought entertainment, education, and community together while giving space for guests to experience these little moments that turn into big memories. These memories and experiences often get passed down from generation to generation and become something that the Evergreen State Fair is well known for—tradition. We can’t wait for you to join us with your loved ones to make new memories this year.

2023 FAIR HONOREE: Rick and Jean Lindsey

This year’s Fair Honoree is being awarded to Rick and Jean Lindsey because of their passion for fairs, exhibitors, and fairgoers. They have been involved with the Fair since the early 90s. They started by supporting their two daughters, Misty & Camas, along with all the other club members. After a few years they founded their own club, Blue Chips, and moved into the roles of club leaders. Their involvement grew as they took on positions as program leaders and eventually Fair Superintendents. More on the Lindseys HERE. Rick and Jean will be honored in the Opening Day Ceremony on August 24 at 2 p.m. at the Courtyard Stage.

2023 Centennial Farm: Duffner Family Farm

Each year Snohomish County recognizes a farm that has remained in continuous production under the same family ownership for 100 years or more. This year the Duffner Family Farm in Snohomish is being honored. In 1920 George and Lisa Marie Wilson purchased 40 acres of farmland in Snohomish. They were born in Estonia, immigrated to the United States, and moved to Canada to farm for a few years where some of their children were born. George was a tailor and the family raised cows and grew vegetables for their use. Following Lisa Marie’s death in 1950, their son Daniel took over the farm. In 1960, their daughter Marie and husband Larry Duffner purchased the farm. Marie was born inside the farmhouse and continued to operate the farm until her death in 2019 at the age of 95. Her and Larry raised pigs, cows, and hundreds of thousands of fryer chickens, as well as maintaining a large vegetable garden and small grove of fruit trees for their family. Marie and Larry’s son Gary owns and operates the farm, continuing his parents’ legacy of raising cows and chickens. The Duffner Family will be honored in the Opening Day Ceremony on August 24 at 2 p.m. at the Courtyard Stage.
