Governor-elect Ferguson appoints KD Chapman-See to lead Budget Office

OLYMPIA—Governor-elect Bob Ferguson on Thursday, November 21, appointed the final position of his executive leadership team by naming K.D. Chapman-See as Director of the Office of Financial Management.

“K.D. brings tremendous talent and expertise to this critical position in state government,” Ferguson said. “She understands the budget challenges facing the state, and I look forward to working with her to deliver efficient, effective government. As we grow an economy that works for everyone, K.D.’s leadership will be critical.”

Chapman-See brings experience developing and advancing state budgets and policy in leadership roles in both the executive and legislative branches. This includes more than a decade with the Washington State House of Representatives where she served as Policy Director and a senior analyst for the state operating budget and tax policy for the House Democratic Caucus. She currently leads the Office of Financial Management’s external government relations as Legislative Affairs Liaison. She attended the University of Chicago and earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. 

Ferguson expressed his gratitude to Pat Sullivan, the outgoing state budget leader.

“I am deeply grateful to Pat Sullivan for his leadership during this challenging time as he develops Governor Inslee’s final budget,” Ferguson said. “He is an outstanding public servant who puts the needs of Washingtonians first.”

Chapman-See’s appointment is effective January 15, 2025.
