SNOHOMISH—Two drivers were transported to a local hospital after a devastating head on collision on State Rout 9 in Snohomish Saturday night. One sustained serious injuries while the other sustained life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, May 16, around 7:24 p.m. Sno911 dispatched Snohomish County Fire District 4 to the 7400 block of State Route 9 Southeast.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and began life saving measures.

Both vehicles sustained extensive front-end damage, and both drivers were trapped within their vehicles until first responders used the jaws of life to free them.
All-in-all extrication took a total of 17-minutes, according to South County Fire, concluding at 7:46 p.m.

Both drivers were transported, lights and sirens, to nearby Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. Alcohol was suspected to be one of the contributing factors of the crash.
SR9 was closed while the Washington State Patrol investigated further. It has since be reopened.
Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue responded for mutual and auto aid response.
