The Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) have honored Lynnwood Dr. Ivan Hyde, formerly of Alderwood Vision Source, with their 2020 President’s Distinguished Service Award. The honor was presented virtually due to COVID-19 by Dr. Michael Matsunami, a fellow optometrist and OPW past president.
“Dr. Hyde is a legend in our profession and our association, and has provided years of service and many contributions to the association,” said Matsunami. Hyde was Matsunami’s instructor while in optometry school.
“I am humbled by this award and to have been able to serve the profession through the association,” said Hyde in his acceptance remarks to the board over Zoom.
The President’s Distinguished Service Award is presented by the president to an OPW member who has made unparalleled contributions to the optometric profession. This year’s award recognizes Dr. Hyde’s work over many years in helping bridge the gap between doctors of optometry and third party payers.
