Two dead in house fire near Mukilteo

Mukilteo, Wash., April 16, 2021 – A 42-year-old man and his 7-year-old daughter died early Thursday morning in a house fire near Mukilteo.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls around 3:25 a.m. reporting smoke and flames coming from a house in the 2800 block of York Road. The house located at the end of a long driveway was engulfed in flames when South County Fire crews arrived.

The rapidly moving fire had already heavily damaged the house. Flames were through the roof and visible in most of the windows. The floor was nearing the point of collapse.

Firefighters initially were unsure if anyone was inside. They searched the only room they could access and did not find any victims. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, firefighters went inside to search areas of the house not in danger of collapse and located both victims.

Mukilteo Fire Department responded to assist South County Fire. No firefighters were injured.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office investigation into the cause of the house fire near Mukilteo is ongoing.
