King County Sheriff’s Office leaks vaccination status of officers

The Dori Monson Show broke news yesterday that a chief with the King County Sheriff’s office “has posted to the King County Intranet all King County Sheriff’s officers’ names and vaccination status.”

This news comes on the heels of a similar story that broke yesterday about a Tacoma university leaking the names and email addresses of its unvaccinated students.

The Dori Monson Show reports that the chief has been demoted and that there are several deputies involved in an expected lawsuit. An internal memo sent by Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht announced the replacement of the demoted chief, which will be in effect this Monday.

On August 21, Gov. Inslee issued a proclamation requiring all state agency employees — including law enforcement personnel — to be fully vaccinated by October 18, 2021. This new mandate will make vaccination status a condition of employment.

According to the most recent data from King County’s Department of Health, 77.9% of residents older than 12 years of age are fully vaccinated, with 84.1% having begun the vaccination process.
