The Edmonds Peter Puget Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated American flags recently to the non-profit organization Support 7 so that on-scene First Responder Chaplains could honor Veterans, their families by being able to shroud their Veteran loved one with dignity while family and Support 7 wait for funeral or medical examiner services to secure their Veteran loved one and prepare them for the next steps.
“Our appreciation to the Edmonds DAR, this is just another way Support 7 is now able to help make a traumatic, unexpected death a little more loving and reverent by being able to provide an American flag to cover a Veteran loved one, on scene as a symbol to the family left behind of our appreciation of their loved one’s honorable and faithful service to our country,” said Shannon Sessions, the Executive Director of Support 7, who’s also an Air Force Veteran, regarding the donated American flags.
Since 1981, Support 7 has been serving the South Snohomish County community and its fire and police agencies by providing a private gathering place for victims and survivors at on-scene events. A compassionate team of highly trained volunteers provides support to victims and survivors of trauma and crisis in their darkest moments 24/7/365.
Support 7 is made up of specially trained volunteers who each year serve hundreds of local families in their darkest moments. This team responds alongside local police and fire first responders to events in South Snohomish County, such as fires, natural disasters, search and rescue operations, unexpected deaths, natural, death by suicide, homicide and other crimes. They devote hundreds of hours to assist our first responders to care more effectively for a victim’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs at times of significant incidents of trauma.
