The event was hosted in partnership by Snohomish County Councilmember Nate Nehring, WSU Extension Beach Watchers, the Greater Seattle Korean Association, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County. Volunteers of all ages spent the morning removing litter and debris from the beach, collecting over 130 pounds of garbage.

“Our second annual beach cleanup event was a great success,” said Councilmember Nehring. “These events are a great way to give back to the community, learn about the importance of environmental stewardship and conservation, and protect our precious shorelines. Every piece of garbage removed helps protect marine life and improves the beach experience for everyone.”.

Joining Councilmember Nehring were Snohomish County Councilmember Strom Peterson and Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen, who addressed the volunteers before the cleanup began. Both highlighted the importance of community involvement in protecting the environment and the value of strong community partnerships.

WSU Extension Beach Watchers provided supplies and educational materials for volunteers. The Greater Seattle Korean Association and Grace Academy brought groups of volunteers to participate in the cleanup. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County provided free shuttle service from the Meadowdale Ballfields parking lot to the beach. The event would not have been possible without the support of these outstanding community partners.
