Lake Stevens Batting Cage project

LAKE STEVENS, Wash., November 25, 2021 – The batting cage for the baseball and softball teams of Lake Stevens are in need of a remodel. With the help of the Lake Stevens School Board, the new facility will be named, “The Bert Cronin Fieldhouse.”

Bert Cronin was a dedicated member of the Lake Stevens community over the last 40 years and influenced so many lives along the way. Through his experience as a builder, Bert was always involved in spearheading projects to make the community a better place. Projects such as the Boys and Girls club gymnasium and the Lake Stevens High School batting cage.

While a business leader in the city, it was through coaching where his love for sports and community truly shined, and where he was able to make such a positive impact on so many kids. He always had a way of making things fun while instilling values that would help them have a better chance for success in the future.

In 2005, the Lake Stevens batting cage was one of the Purple and Golf Club’s first projects and privately funded from in-kind and fundraising donations. With the help of others, Bert stepped up to the plate to build it. His ability to rally people together and get the best out of them was on display, as the group jumped many hurdles to get the job done. Since 2005, the batting cage has had much use. With this, and the remodel of the school itself, there is an opportunity to complete the much-needed maintenance, while providing for updates for future athletes.

With the help of the Lake Stevens School Board, we have approval to name the facility “The Bert Cronin Fieldhouse”, and plan to complete the renovations in the coming months. If Bert were with us today, we know he’d be leading this charge and we are asking for your support.

Let’s keep Bert’s memory alive and remember his wise words: “Kids don’t care what you know, until they know how much you care.”
