Earth & Ocean is co-owned by Chris Mills and Fermin Lopez, two close friends with a love for seafood and meat. In 2023, they decided to turn their combined experience of over 50 years into an opportunity to provide fresh high-quality seafood and meat to the waterfront community of Mukilteo. The company firmly believes in ethical sourcing and responsible practices, and collaborates directly with local suppliers.

“We ensure that our products are not only fresh and bursting with flavor but also sourced in a manner that respects and nurtures the environment,” its website reads.

  1. Mukilteo, home of the point Elliot treaty. Not buying local seafood from locals. Hahaha another example of fake fresh local market. Mukilteo has so much rich food at its own beaches. It will fake that it has access to that food but won’t even try to buy it to sell. What a shame. Local fishermen state or tribal have to sell to china to survive….

    1. They very clearly state that they source from trusted suppliers in the Pacific Northwest.

So, are you giving voice to some specific suppliers in the Mukilteo area who are simply not presently one of this small businesses partners or are you simply disparaging a competitor?

As anyone who has ever successfully operated a local business knows, you cannot always source the quantity, quality, or consistency of all of your offerings directly from the local market of one town, one city, one county, or one narrow region of one state (if that’s the “local purity” test that you’re applying here).

Common sense would yield an obvious fact: if the local market could already source everything offered in your shop from the immediate local area, your shop would usually be pointlessly redundant. New businesses that hope to succeed and endure must bring something necessary, unique, and new to the local marketplace; otherwise, their longevity may soon be in doubt.

Here’s what Earth & Ocean say about their sourcing as quoted directly from their website (earthandocean.net):

“From the moment you walk through our doors, you can expect nothing less than the finest selection of high-quality beef, poultry, pork, and seafood, sourced directly from Pacific Northwest, trusted suppliers who share our dedication to ethical and sustainable practices. We take pride in providing you with the freshest and most flavorful options available.”

Sounds good to us. We’ll definitely be stopping by to see for ourselves what’s available.
