MUKILTEO—The City of Mukilteo proudly announces the appointment of three officials to positions within the National League of Cities (NLC) Committee and Advocacy Groups. Joe Marine, Mayor of Mukilteo, Jason Moon, City Councilmember, and Steve Powers, City Administrator, have been selected to serve on key committees, further solidifying Mukilteo’s commitment to national advocacy and leadership in municipal governance.
“Being reappointed to the NLC’s Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee is an honor and a testament to our City’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Mayor Joe Marine. “I look forward to continuing our work at the national level to develop effective strategies for public safety.” As a member of NLC’s PSCP Committee, Mayor Marine will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home.
Councilmember Jason Moon expressed his gratitude for his appointments to the Small Cities Council and the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials Board.
“It is with great humility and gratitude that I accept the dual appointment to the Small Cities Council and the election to the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials Board within the National League of Cities,” said Councilmember Jason Moon. “I am truly honored and privileged to undertake these roles, recognizing the profound responsibility they carry.”
As a member of NLC’s Small Cities Council, Councilmember Moon will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country. Councilmember Moon’s role on the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials Board provides a platform to amplify the voices and concerns of the Asian Pacific American community within the broader municipal landscape.
Steve Powers, City Administrator of Mukilteo, shared his enthusiasm for his reappointment to the NLC’s Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations Federal Advocacy Committee.
“I’m honored to have been selected for this Committee once again this year,” said City Administrator Powers. “Last year the Committee tackled a number of important topics, including how the federal government could improve its grant process for cities. I look forward to working on similar issues this year that benefit the residents of Mukilteo.”
As a member of NLC’s Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations Federal Advocacy Committee, City Administrator Powers will continue to advocate for solutions to administrative issues America’s cities, towns, and villages are facing.
