If elected to serve another term, Larsen said his priorities will be transportation infrastructure and safety, marine conservation, affordability and government accountability, expanding healthcare accessibility, and continuing to invest in major projects throughout Northwest Washington.

Among the attendees at last month’s event was Everett City Council member Ben Zarlingo, who shared a few words following a cocktail mingling hour.

“Rick Larsen is a really effective representative for district two here in Northwest Washington and for the rest of the state as well. He has a deep record of practical positions and is a potent advocate every time we need one at the federal level. He also manages to stay well connected and available for all of us working at the city and county level,” Zarlingo told the Lynnwood Times.

Zarlingo, who entered politics later in life after retiring from his job in technology, said that his impression of what voters look for in a candidate is someone they can trust, respect, and nominate to make decisions for them and advocate for their needs.

“One of the things I consistently hear about Rick is he’s all over the place, which is remarkable given he has a five-hour commute on an airplane just to get back to work on time,” said Zarlingo during his remarks at Larsen’s kickoff event. “He’s here for us and that’s why I think he’s going to be successful yet again.”

Larsen himself, bedecked in a Seattle Sounders kit jersey, followed Councilman Zarlingo to share what serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for the last 25 years has been like, stating “when you run for office you get to pick the issues you’re running on. When you serve the issues pick you.”

A subcommittee of the U.S. House of Transportation Infrastructure Committee, of which Larsen is ranking member, is the Economic Development, Emergency Management, and Public Buildings Commitee which oversees the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

On June 13, President Donald Trump’s name was removed from the center following a federal court ruling that determined that only congress has the authority to change the center’s name.

Larsen opened his speech by sharing that he was looking forward to returning to D.C. to see, and take a picture, of the name removal, and shared that just one project he’ll be working on in the next term is “get back on track” so that the Kennedy Center remains “the premier cultural art institution of the United States.”

Transportation, Larsen continued, will also remain a focus of his. He celebrated the opening of the Edgewater Bridge – A vital 366-foot-long bridge connecting Everett and Mukilteo along West Mukilteo Boulevard –

“Doing this may be really inconvenient for people, I get that, but you’ll never be inconvenienced by Edgewater Creek Bridge being closed again in your lifetime, because that bridge is going to last forever,” said Larsen. “When you make infrastructure investments for the long-term they last for the long-term. The jobs they create is great and now the safe, and efficient, mobility along Mukilteo boulevard is guaranteed.”

Another project Larsen specifically mentioned is the Port of Everett’s $11 million Pier 3 rehabilitation.

Larsen also wants to continue his work cracking down on the fentanyl crises, leveraging the undercover officers in the Drug Taskforce to track down, and map out, the network of drug dealers and cartels bringing dangerous drugs into communities. He has a bill on the horizon that would bring federal support to fund these operations.

Supporting the 47,000 veterans in the second district, who are in need of employment, housing, healthcare, and education, and ensuring the Puget Sound and Salish Sea remain clean are other top priorities.

Larsen co-sponsored several key pieces of legislation in the last two years – including the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 (signed into law May 2024), and the more recent $580 billion BUILD America 250 Act (a bipartisan surface transportation reauthorization bill co-sponsored with Chairman Graves that overwhelmingly passed the House Transportation Committee in May of this Year).

“All that work is important, I want to continue doing that work, and I thank you for the opportunity to continue that work,” said Larsen.

According to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) Larsen raised a total of $1,602,896.76 throughout 2025 until March 2026. The cash on hand, according to the last report, is currently $748,341.63.

In Larsen’s campaign trail he’s knocked on more than 2,600 doors in Northwest Washington.
