Expected lane closures Monday for Lynnwood Transit Center construction

LYNNWOOD, Wash., February 18, 2023—Lynnwood residents, commuters, and businesses are advised to expect lane closures beginning Monday, February 20, 2023, on sections of 200 St SW for 8 to 12 weeks for Phase One construction on the Transit and Traffic Circulation Improvements Project.

Because traffic is expected to increase in the area with the upcoming Lynnwood Transit Center in 2024, the City of Lynnwood and Sound Transit have decided to expand 200th Street to include five lanes between 44th and 48th avenues. This is major east-west transportation route for the City of Lynnwood running parallel to 196th Street.

Resident and businesses should expect curb and sidewalk demolition, roadway demolition, roadway and sidewalk grading, duct bank installation, water hydrant, meter and light pole installation, tree removal, landscaping, striping, driveway construction, and traffic signal poles.

Lane closures at intersection of 44th Ave W and 200th St SW in Lynnwood

As early as Monday, February 20, Sound Transit’s contractor will begin work along 200th St SW and 44th Ave W in Lynnwood as part of the Transit and Traffic Circulation Improvements project.

This work will include demolition of the roadway and hardscaping. The right turn pocket on 200th St SW eastbound and the right turn/merge lane on 200th St SW eastbound will be closed. The right HOV/turn lane on 44th Ave W southbound and the right turn pocket lane on 44th Ave W northbound will be closed.

Work will take place 24/7 for approximately 8 weeks—Monday, February 20 – Friday, April 14, 2023. Sidewalks will be closed on alternating sides of the street and detours will be provided.

Lane closures along 200th St. SW and 48th Ave W in Lynnwood

As early as Wednesday, Feb. 22, Sound Transit’s contractor will begin work along the eastbound right lane on 200th St. SW, between 52nd Avenue and 48th Ave., and the southbound right lane on 48th Ave. W, between 200th St. SW and the Lynnwood Transit Center bus loop. The sidewalk on the south side of 200th St. SW and the west side of 48th Ave. W will also be closed. Driveway access will be maintained.
